Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin returned from the U.S. on September 14, 2024, confident in his government’s commitment to fully implement the MOUs signed with U.S. companies, aiming to boost employment in the state. While responding to critics, including former Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami, he highlighted that his government has already attracted significant investments over the past three years. Stalin also defended his administration against claims that other states were outperforming Tamil Nadu in investment attraction, labeling such remarks as politically motivated. He celebrated the resumption of Ford’s production in Tamil Nadu and announced major investments in several cities, reinforcing the state’s growing industrial landscape.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin recently returned from a successful trip to the United States and announced that his government is committed to fully implementing the memorandums of understanding (MOUs) signed with various U.S. companies. This initiative aims to create significant employment opportunities in the state.
Upon his arrival, the Chief Minister addressed concerns raised by opposition leaders, including former Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami, regarding transparency in investments. Stalin cited a presentation made by the Industries Minister in the Assembly, which detailed the investments attracted during the last three years under the DMK government. He emphasized that Palaniswami, despite his own overseas trips, had failed to execute even a fraction of the MOUs he signed.
Stalin also responded to claims made by PMK’s S. Ramadoss, who criticized Tamil Nadu’s investment figures compared to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He dismissed these comments as politically motivated and instead highlighted that he had signed 19 agreements with Fortune 500 companies, projecting over ₹7,600 crore in investments across several districts, including Tiruchi and Madurai.
In a different context, when asked about an apology from a hotel MD concerning comments on the Goods and Services Tax (GST), Stalin expressed disappointment over how the Union Finance Minister managed the issue. This press conference marked an important communication from the Chief Minister regarding the state’s economic direction and his government’s commitment to fostering industrial growth.
