Chennai’s Chief Minister MK Stalin recently launched two Neo Tidel parks in Thanjavur and Salem, designed to foster IT job growth in smaller cities. Each park spans 55,000 square feet and can accommodate around 1,000 seats. The Salem facility, costing Rs 29.5 crore, has already secured 70% of its space, while Thanjavur has commitments for 30%. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to expanding technology sectors beyond urban areas. With growing interest from IT companies and startups, the state plans to open more facilities, including parks in Tuticorin, Vellore, and Tirupur by the end of the year, enhancing job opportunities and quality office spaces in these regions.



Chennai: Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister MK Stalin recently inaugurated two Neo Tidel parks in Thanjavur and Salem, providing a seating capacity of approximately 1,000 seats. Each park covers 55,000 square feet and is designed as a three-story structure. These developments are part of the government’s initiative to promote information technology jobs in smaller cities across the state.

During a virtual event at the state secretariat, CM Stalin also issued work orders for companies setting up in these parks. The Salem facility, located in Anaikavundanpatti and Karuppur villages, was built at a cost of Rs 29.5 crore and has already secured commitments for 70% of its capacity. Meanwhile, the Thanjavur facility at Pillayarpatti village has commitments for 30% of its available space, according to Sandeep Nanduri, the managing director of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation.

The initiative has attracted interest from IT, ITES, health-tech companies, and startups seeking quality office spaces in these tier-II and tier-III cities. Nanduri mentioned ongoing talks with additional clients, expecting more work orders to be issued in the coming weeks. Other projects, including one in Tuticorin, are set to be completed soon, with further Neo Tidel parks planned for Vellore and Tirupur by the end of the year.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy outlined in the 2021-22 budget, which included setting up a total of seven Neo Tidel parks across Tamil Nadu.
