Key figures from Ford, including Kay Hart, president of the International Markets Group, and Matt Godlewski, vice president of International Government Affairs, participated in the talks. Ford, which established a presence in Tamil Nadu in the 1990s, had previously announced plans to cease operations at its Chennai facility in June 2022.
The meeting with Ford wasn’t the only highlight of Stalin’s trip. He also engaged with ITServe Alliance, urging fresh investments to support Tamil Nadu’s economic development. The trip has proven fruitful, as it resulted in 16 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aiming for a total investment of ₹7,016 crore in the state.
This proactive approach may not only revive Ford’s operations but also significantly boost Tamil Nadu’s economy, generating new opportunities in the region.
