In a recent address, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma criticized the previous government led by Ashok Gehlot for hastily creating 17 new districts before leaving office in 2023. At an oath-taking ceremony for the Rajasthan Administrative Service Association, Sharma emphasized that new districts should only be formed when there is a genuine need, highlighting the financial and resource challenges such decisions bring. He urged officials to focus on accountability and performance without favoritism. Additionally, newly elected RASA president Mahaveer Kharadi raised concerns about inadequate office facilities and delays in officer promotions, reinforcing the need for improved administrative support to meet public expectations effectively.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma recently criticized the previous government’s decision to create 17 new districts at the end of Ashok Gehlot’s tenure. During an oath-taking ceremony for the Rajasthan Administrative Service Association (RASA) on Saturday, Sharma expressed that the previous administration acted hastily without proper justification for the new districts. He emphasized that such significant decisions should only be made when there is a clear need, as the establishment of district offices requires considerable financial and resource investment.

Sharma pointed out that the former Chief Minister Gehlot should have carefully considered whether creating so many new districts was truly necessary. He argued that decisions affecting the state’s administration must involve a thorough evaluation of available resources and actual requirements. Highlighting the essential role of the administration in connecting the government with citizens, Sharma urged public servants to be approachable, reliable, and efficient, particularly during challenging times.

He assured that his government would assess officials based on their performance and accountability to the public, promoting a culture free from favoritism. Furthermore, Mahaveer Kharadi, the newly appointed RASA president, presented a charter of demands to the CM, raising concerns over inadequate office spaces, delays in promotions, and reductions in RAS positions within key departments.
