In a recent press conference in Jammu, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge strongly defended the Congress-National Conference alliance in Jammu and Kashmir against accusations from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. They claimed the alliance was aligning with Pakistan’s interests. Kharge labeled these allegations as false and emphasized that Congress’s agenda is centered on the welfare and development of the people in the region. He pointed out that while the BJP has been in power for a decade without fulfilling promises, they are diverting attention by blaming Congress. Kharge also referred to Modi’s 2015 visit to Pakistan, questioning the BJP’s integrity in their stance on national loyalty.

In a recent press conference in Jammu, Congress President and Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge strongly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their accusations against the Congress-National Conference alliance in Jammu & Kashmir. The ruling leaders claimed that the alliance was aligning with Pakistan’s interests, which Kharge firmly rejected as false. He emphasized that the Congress party’s primary concern in the region is the welfare and development of its people, dismissing any links to Pakistan.

Kharge further challenged Modi’s claims by mentioning the Prime Minister’s own visit to Pakistan in 2015, where he shared a meal with then-Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. “The BJP may love India,” Kharge stated, “but it is married to Pakistan.” He questioned why, after ten years in power, the BJP had not fulfilled its promises regarding the development of Jammu & Kashmir.

During the same event, PM Modi warned the people of Kashmir that voting for Congress could lead to the reinstatement of Article 370, associated with violence in the valley, a point that Kharge also contested. This back-and-forth between the parties underscores the politically charged environment in Jammu & Kashmir as they approach the upcoming elections.

This exchange highlights the ongoing political tensions in Jammu & Kashmir and the differing visions for the region’s future between these key parties. It remains to be seen how these allegations will impact the electorate as they head to the polls.
