Arvind Kejriwal, the former Chief Minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party leader, addressed the Delhi Legislative Assembly for the first time since resigning. During his speech, he criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and expressed that while Prime Minister Modi is powerful, he is not infallible. Kejriwal reflected on his recent time in jail and shared a surprising conversation he had with a BJP leader, who claimed that his arrest disrupted the Delhi government. He also reassured residents that now that he is back, the government will complete all pending work, including repairs to damaged roads in the city. Kejriwal emphasized that he is committed to serving the people of Delhi.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal returned to the Delhi Legislative Assembly on Thursday, marking his first appearance since resigning. During his address, he directed sharp comments towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Kejriwal stated, “My colleagues in the opposition must be sad to see Manish Sisodia and me here. I always say Prime Minister Modi is very powerful and has a lot of resources, but Modi is not God.” He emphasized the importance of faith and expressed gratitude towards the Supreme Court.

Kejriwal, who served nearly a decade as Chief Minister, now occupies a different position, seated at number 41 while his successor, Atishi, holds the top chair. His return to the assembly comes after intense scrutiny of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over corruption allegations related to a liquor distribution scheme, which led to his and Sisodia’s extended detentions without trial.

Reflecting on his experiences, Kejriwal recounted a conversation with a senior BJP leader regarding his arrest. He expressed disbelief that the BJP seemed pleased to disrupt the Delhi government and the lives of its citizens through such actions.

Following his assembly appearance, Kejriwal inspected road repairs in Delhi, stating, “Now that I am out of jail, all the pending work in Delhi will be complete.” He reassured residents that the stalled projects would resume, promising to address the city’s infrastructure needs promptly.

This dynamic re-entry into politics heralds a significant moment for Kejriwal and the AAP as they seek to regain momentum in the assemblies ahead.
