In Jaipur, Lokesh Sharma, a former officer for ex-Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, has provided a seven-page response to the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch regarding a phone tapping case. Sharma claims that Gehlot gave him a pen drive with details about the tapped conversations during a meeting on July 16, 2020. He stated that he was unaware of the clips’ significance until they became public. Sharma has urged the police to question Gehlot, suggesting that the phone tapping could not have happened without approval from the Home Department. The case is linked to an audio clip allegedly involving Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

Lokesh Sharma, who previously served as Officer on Special Duty to former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, has come forward with serious allegations regarding a phone tapping incident. On Wednesday, Sharma provided a seven-page response to the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch, claiming that Gehlot was the one who handed him the phone tap details. According to Sharma, Gehlot invited him to his residence on July 16, 2020, where he received a pen drive containing crucial information associated with the phone tapping.

Sharma insisted that he was not aware of the contents of the recordings at the time and only understood their significance after they were made public. He urged the Crime Branch to interrogate Gehlot as he believes the tapping could not have happened without approval from the Home department.

This development is part of an ongoing investigation linked to a case that Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat filed against Sharma in March 2021, centering around an audio clip allegedly involving Shekhawat. Sharma has already appeared for questioning multiple times, making this his fifth session with the Crime Branch.

As this case unfolds, attention will remain on the implications for both Sharma and Gehlot, along with the broader context concerning privacy and governmental oversight.
