The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has requested government accommodation for Arvind Kejriwal, who recently resigned as Delhi’s Chief Minister after serving for ten years. AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha stated that they will approach the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs soon, hoping for a swift response. Chadha emphasized that every political party should have an office and housing for its president in the capital. In contrast, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized AAP’s demand, pointing out the inconsistency in their stance. BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor suggested that AAP leaders should directly apply for the accommodation rather than hold press events. Kejriwal is expected to vacate his official bungalow within 15 days.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called for a government accommodation for former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who recently stepped down after a decade in office. Party MP Raghav Chadha announced that they will be reaching out to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for this request, hoping for a favorable response soon. Kejriwal is expected to vacate the government bungalow he has occupied within the next 15 days.

According to Chadha, every political party has the right to provide accommodation for their leaders, especially when it comes to maintaining their office functions. He pointed out that the rules allow the heads of recognized national parties to receive government housing if they don’t have private accommodation. Chadha emphasized that, despite serving as Delhi’s CM for ten years, Kejriwal does not own a house, unlike many other local leaders.

However, the BJP has criticized AAP’s demand, stating that Kejriwal had previously renounced his official privileges when he resigned. Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor suggested that AAP leaders should pursue the accommodation through proper channels rather than public appeals.

The political tug-of-war continues as AAP seeks to secure government housing for its leader while facing pushback from the opposition.
