Delhi Chief Minister Atishi is spearheading an initiative to inspect and repair damaged roads across the city, aiming for a pothole-free Delhi by Diwali. Accompanied by her cabinet ministers and Public Works Department engineers, Atishi assessed various areas in south and southeast Delhi after taking over from Arvind Kejriwal. She assigned specific districts to ministers for thorough inspections and stated that all roads will be restored within the next few months. Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia criticized the BJP for neglecting road conditions, while BJP MP Manoj Tiwari accused Atishi of proving Kejriwal’s ineffectiveness. The government is determined to address the road issues swiftly and enhance commuting safety before the festive season.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi is on a mission to make the capital’s roads pothole-free by Diwali. On September 30, she and her cabinet ministers began inspecting damaged roads across the city. This initiative follows her recent appointment as chief minister after Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation. Atishi, along with Public Works Department engineers, focused on areas in south and southeast Delhi, as she prioritizes road repairs.

After assessing the road conditions, Atishi stated, “For two days, Arvind Kejriwal and I inspected the roads of Delhi and found that the condition is very poor. We have delegated responsibilities among ministers to ensure all roads in the city are restored by Diwali.” She outlined specific areas for each minister, emphasizing a collective effort to upgrade Delhi’s roads in the next few months.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also voiced concerns over the road conditions, blaming the opposition BJP for neglecting maintenance. He promised that all pending work would be completed now that Kejriwal has returned.

In contrast, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari criticized Atishi, claiming that her inspections highlight Kejriwal’s past inaction. He suggested that voters would not forget the previous government’s negligence regarding road upkeep.

Atishi has assured that after the inspections, repair work will commence promptly, with the goal of ensuring that all roads are in good shape by the end of October.
