During a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan, Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi administered the oath of office to Senthil Balaji and three other new ministers: Govi Chezhian, R. Rajendran, and S.M. Nasser. Senthil Balaji will oversee the portfolios of Electricity, Excise, and Prohibition, showcasing his continued influence in the state government.

Govi Chezhian, a notable Dalit leader, has been appointed as the new Higher Education Minister, while R. Rajendran takes on the Tourism portfolio. S.M. Nasser will handle the departments of Minorities Welfare and Non-Resident Tamils Welfare.

Senthil Balaji, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate while serving as a minister in the previous AIADMK government, was released from Puzhal central prison after his political shift to the DMK and winning a seat in the 2021 Assembly elections.

Notably, Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, was also present at the swearing-in ceremony. Recently appointed as Deputy Chief Minister, Udhayanidhi has taken on additional responsibilities in the Planning and Development department, alongside his existing roles in Youth Welfare and Sports Development. He expressed his commitment to his new responsibilities during his first public appearance in this elevated role.

This reshuffle comes at a crucial time for the DMK party, aiming to strengthen its leadership and governance in Tamil Nadu.
