The European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) Ukraine Holds Workshop on Cryptocurrency Crime and Financial Investigations

Last week, the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) Ukraine organized a workshop on Cryptocurrency Crime and Financial Investigations. The workshop was attended by 24 experts from various Ukrainian law enforcement agencies, including the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation, the National Police of Ukraine, and the Security Service of Ukraine.

Enhancing Expertise in Key Areas

The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance the capacities of the participating experts in key areas such as financial investigations, cybercrime, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and international cooperation. These areas are crucial for effectively combating organized crime.

In her welcome address to the workshop participants, Maura O’Sullivan, the EUAM’s Deputy Head, emphasized the importance of financial investigations in the fight against organized crime. She stated, “Effective fight against organised crime is not possible without the financial investigation followed by the deprivation, seizure and confiscation of criminal assets. Our Mission is working very closely with the EU Member States and Ukrainian institutions to provide expert advice and share best practices in this area.”

The workshop received support from experts representing Europol, Moody’s Analytics, and Ukrainian Modern Digital Science. Their expertise and insights added value to the workshop, enriching the knowledge and skills of the participants.
