Samsung has announced significant price cuts of 15-35 percent on its flagship S24 smartphone range, set to launch on Flipkart starting September 26. This strategic move comes as Samsung competes with Apple’s recently launched iPhone 16 series, which has already captured Market attention. Apple is narrowing the price gap with the iPhone 16 Pro Max, now just Rs 14,900 more than the S24 Ultra, while offering substantial exchange deals and cash discounts to boost sales. During the festival season, both companies aim to maximize their share of the high-end smartphone Market, which is expected to grow by 15-16 percent this year, with Samsung focusing on retaining Android users in key price segments.

Samsung Takes Bold Steps to Compete with Apple’s iPhone 16

In a significant move to challenge Apple’s recently launched iPhone 16 series, Samsung has announced price cuts of 15-35 percent on its flagship S24 line, which debuted in January. Starting September 26, these discounted models will be exclusively available on Flipkart, enabling Samsung to better position itself against Apple’s latest offering, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which hit the Market just last Friday.

This strategic price adjustment comes as Apple aims to reduce the cost gap between its products. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is now Rs 14,900 cheaper than its predecessor, making it a direct competitor to Samsung’s S24 Ultra. Samsung’s base model S24 will be priced around Rs 20,000 less than the iPhone 16, while the exclusive S24 Ultra will offer consumers a staggering Rs 34,901 in savings.

Apple is also sweetening the deal with enticing exchange offers for its iPhone 16 models, allowing customers to trade in their old phones for substantial discounts of up to Rs 65,000, when combined with credit card offers. Samsung’s trade-in offers, meanwhile, max out at Rs 45,000, according to experts.

With the festival season around the corner, when smartphone sales typically soar, both brands are in a race for Market dominance. The recent analysis by Counterpoint Research suggests a promising 15-16 percent growth in high-end smartphones priced over Rs 45,000, with both Apple and Samsung making up 90 percent of sales in this segment.

On the supply side, Apple is currently facing shortages of its iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models, with many retailers reporting low availability, while the base models produced in India do not suffer from such shortages. This tight supply is partly due to ongoing imports, indicating that domestic assembly might take a few months to ramp up.

Overall, Samsung is keen on securing its stronghold in the Android Market, especially within the Rs 30,000-45,000 range, where it commands a solid share. Samsung’s diverse product range is designed to keep users within the Android ecosystem, making it an exciting time for smartphone enthusiasts.
