RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat recently highlighted the importance of “dharma” in India’s growth and unity during a book release event. He compared current challenges to those faced in the era of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, asserting that forces opposing India’s development are similar to past adversaries. Bhagwat emphasized that dharma, which encompasses truth, compassion, and dedication, is vital for India’s progress and existence. He noted that India was created not just for survival, unlike other nations, but to promote the idea of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” which signifies global unity. He also referred to historical perspectives from figures like Subhash Chandra Bose, affirming that Hindu dharma has been a unifying force throughout India’s diverse history.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat recently addressed concerns about obstacles to India’s progress, pointing out that similar challenges were faced during the time of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Speaking at the launch of Dr. Milind Paradkar’s book ‘Tanjavarche Marathe’, Bhagwat emphasized the importance of “dharma” or righteous conduct in overcoming these challenges. He explained that dharma is not limited to rituals (puja) but involves broader concepts like truth, compassion, and dedication.

During his speech, Bhagwat also explained that the term “Hindu” represents the acceptance of diversity and highlighted India’s unique role in promoting the idea of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” which means “the world is one family.” He recognized that while previous invasions were easily identifiable, modern-day challenges manifest in more subtle ways, impacting the economy, spirituality, and politics.

Bhagwat urged everyone to remain undeterred by those hindering India’s growth, stating that the vitality of the nation is rooted in dharma. He conveyed that India is blessed and destined to serve a greater purpose in the world. “Jivani shakti,” or the life force, was emphasized as the underpinning of Indian unity, a concept synonymously tied to dharma.

Taking a historical perspective, Bhagwat recounted how Indian unity persisted through ancient times, even against the backdrop of colonization, asserting that much of this unity emerged from Hindu dharma. He made a reference to the writings of Subhash Chandra Bose, who underscored the idea that Hindu dharma has historically been the thread that holds together India and its diverse cultures.

Ultimately, Bhagwat’s message focused on the intrinsic strength that dharma provides to India, encouraging citizens to recognize their collective power in overcoming present-day challenges while fostering respect for their shared heritage.
