Pernod Ricard India anticipates strong double-digit growth in the medium term, driven by a growing trend towards premium products. Jean Touboul, CEO of Pernod Ricard India, highlighted that India has become the company’s second-largest Market globally. Despite facing regulatory challenges, including losing their liquor license in Delhi, Touboul remains optimistic and is actively seeking to regain Market presence. While discussing the performance of their Imperial Blue whisky, he noted its slower growth compared to higher-end brands like Royal Stag and Blenders Pride, emphasizing a focus on premiumization. Additionally, Pernod Ricard aims to expand its export markets from India significantly, enhancing its global reach.

Pernod Ricard India is gearing up for major growth as the country’s premiumisation trend takes off. According to Jean Touboul, the CEO of Pernod Ricard India, they expect to see double-digit growth in the medium term. He shared that India is now the second-largest Market for Pernod Ricard globally, showing a consistent compounded annual growth rate of 8% over the past five years. In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, the company reported a growth rate of 6.1% in India.

Despite some regulatory challenges, including the rejection of their appeal to sell liquor in Delhi, Touboul remains optimistic. He mentioned that while this setback isn’t hugely impactful, they are eager to regain their license and are working closely with authorities to resolve the issue. Touboul emphasized that they have done nothing wrong, and they intend to return to the Delhi Market.

When discussing their whiskey brand Imperial Blue, Touboul noted that while it may not be growing as quickly as their premium brands, it still plays a vital role in their product lineup. Pernod Ricard is focusing on enhancing its premium offerings, highlighting the success of brands like Royal Stag and Blenders Pride. Recently, they launched two new whiskies, Royal Stag Double Dark and Blenders Pride Four Elements, as part of their strategy to cater to the premium segment.

Moreover, the company is also aiming to increase exports from India from 40 to 70 markets, further solidifying its presence internationally.

Stay tuned for more updates on Pernod Ricard’s journey in the Indian Market, as they continue to navigate challenges and seize opportunities for growth.
