Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) is taking significant steps to expand its liquefied natural gas (LNG) operations, according to Managing Director Kamal Kishore Chatiwal. In an interview at IGL’s Delhi headquarters, Chatiwal revealed plans to establish 100 LNG stations by the fiscal year 2030. This initiative aims to cater to areas that face challenges in gas distribution, through the development of CNG to LNG conversion plants.

As the only city gas distributor in the national capital, IGL is also focused on sustainability. Chatiwal announced plans to create one of the first large-scale commercial biomethane production facilities, as part of their upcoming compressed biogas projects. This move highlights a commitment to reducing dependency on imported fuels, with Chatiwal noting that around 30 percent of India’s natural gas comes from imports.
