Indonesia is set to sign $3.5 billion in business deals with African countries during the second Indonesia-Africa Forum taking place in Bali. The forum, running until September 3, aims to boost economic cooperation as Indonesia looks to expand its export markets. President Joko Widodo highlighted the increased trade volumes and agreements between Indonesia and Africa in his opening speech. Key partnerships expected to be announced include a geothermal project between Indonesia’s state power utility and Tanzania’s electric supply company, along with an agreement between Indonesian pharmaceutical firm Bio Farma and Ghana’s Atlantic Lifesciences Ltd. Additionally, enhanced airport surveillance measures are being implemented to prevent the spread of mpox during the forum.



Indonesia is gearing up to sign business deals worth $3.5 billion with various African nations as it hosts the second Indonesia-Africa Forum in the beautiful resort island of Bali. The forum, taking place from September 2 to September 3, aims to strengthen economic ties and broaden Indonesia’s export markets.

During the opening speech, President Joko Widodo emphasized the growth in trade volumes and agreements between Indonesia and Africa. Several key memorandums of understanding are set to be signed, including a geothermal energy project between Indonesia’s state power utility, Perusahaan Listrik Negara, and Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO). Additionally, a collaboration between Indonesian pharmaceutical company Bio Farma and Ghana’s Atlantic Lifesciences Ltd is also anticipated.

As part of the forum, Indonesian officials have announced enhanced airport surveillance measures to curb the spread of mpox, a topic of discussion at a recent parliamentary meeting.

This initiative is part of Indonesia’s strategy to forge stronger partnerships and expand its influence in international markets, marking a significant step in fostering cooperation with African nations.
