Balmer Lawrie & Company, a diversified public sector unit, has set ambitious targets for growth, aiming for a revenue of Rs 6,000 crore by the year 2030. In an announcement made on August 30, 2024, the company’s Chairman and Managing Director, Adhip Nath Palchaudhuri, shared that they are engaging a consultant to develop a comprehensive growth plan to achieve this goal. Currently, Balmer Lawrie has a revenue of Rs 2,400 crore and has recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the government to target Rs 3,400 crore in revenue for this financial year.

Balmer Lawrie operates across several sectors including lubricants, industrial packaging, logistics, and travel and vacations. Palchaudhuri emphasized that the travel and vacation sector holds significant growth potential. Remarkably, about 80 percent of their business operation is outside government contracts, mostly focusing on the private sector. The company aims to increase its share in the leisure travel Market while continuing to provide travel and ticketing services to government entities.

In addition to its existing ventures, Balmer Lawrie is exploring new horizons by entering the ethanol production Market. The company is in the process of acquiring 25 acres of land in Andhra Pradesh, with plans to use rice and maize as feedstock for ethanol production. Furthermore, they are looking to expand into the third-party logistics sector.

This strategic move marks a significant step for Balmer Lawrie as it plans for long-term growth and diversification, ensuring it remains a key player in its respective industries.
