During the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet and Expo in Gandhinagar on September 16, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted his government’s achievements in infrastructure and social development over the past 100 days. He discussed plans to construct 7 crore houses and announced initiatives to build new industrial cities and high-speed corridors. Emphasizing India’s commitment to renewable energy, Modi mentioned investment in offshore wind energy and hydropower to address the nation’s energy needs. He also spoke about the PM Suryaghar Yojana, which promotes rooftop solar installations in households, benefiting millions of families and positioning India as a leader in green energy solutions for the future.



Gandhinagar: On September 16, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet and Expo (RE-INVEST 2024) in Gandhinagar. The Prime Minister praised his government’s rapid and extensive planning achievements, particularly the ‘100-days’ plans aimed at improving infrastructure and social development across various sectors.

He highlighted significant government initiatives, noting that India is on track to build 7 crore houses, more than the total population of many countries. So far, 4 crore houses have been distributed in the past two terms alone. The Prime Minister also shared details about ambitious plans that include constructing 12 new industrial cities and expanding transport infrastructure with eight high-speed road corridors and more than 15 new semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains.

On the renewable energy front, Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to meeting the rising energy demands despite being oil and gas deficit. A notable initiative announced was a funding scheme for offshore wind energy projects worth over Rs 7,000 crore. The government is also planning to produce 31,000 megawatts of hydropower with an investment of Rs 12,000 crore.

The Prime Minister emphasized India’s unique capabilities that position it as a global leader for the 21st century, stating, "India knows our requirements to become a developed nation by 2047." He reiterated the strategy to rely on alternative energy sources like solar, wind, nuclear, and hydropower for a sustainable energy future.

During the event, he also met beneficiaries of the PM Suryaghar Yojana, aiming to promote rooftop solar solutions. As of now, approximately 3.75 lakh houses have been equipped with rooftop solar projects, and over 13 million families have registered for the program. Modi highlighted the PM-KUSUM scheme, aimed at solarizing the agriculture sector, and announced Ayodhya as India’s first model solar city.

This event signifies India’s commitment to sustainable development and renewable energy, paving the way for a greener future.
