At MWC Barcelona 2025, Huawei announced the launch of its groundbreaking AI Core Network, which represents a significant shift towards AI-native infrastructure. This new network aims to optimize itself and manage operations autonomously, allowing seamless connection between AI-driven devices and services. It will be implemented in two phases: first, the 5G-A Intelligent Core will enhance network capabilities using AI agents, followed by the Agentic Core for real-time adaptability. Huawei’s AI Core Network promises to deliver personalized services for consumers, businesses, and AI systems, while the company is also introducing advanced cloud solutions to support this technology. By embracing AI, Huawei aims to transform the telecom sector and drive innovation in an increasingly intelligent world.

[Barcelona, Spain, March 3, 2025] At the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, George Gao, President of Huawei Cloud Core Network Product Line, introduced the groundbreaking AI Core Network. This innovative network represents a major advancement in technology, moving from just AI-powered systems to fully AI-native infrastructure. The AI Core Network is designed to be autonomous, allowing it to optimize itself and manage operations independently. This development aims to transform the industry by linking AI agents, devices, and environments seamlessly.

In an age where AI is reshaping the business landscape, there’s a growing need for core networks that go beyond basic connectivity. The AI Core Network provides a future-ready foundation that combines connectivity, computing, perception, memory, and digital twin simulations. It is targeted at individuals, families, businesses, and AI agents, thereby fulfilling complex needs for personalized and intelligent services.

Huawei plans to roll out the AI Core Network in two phases:

  • The first phase, 5G-A Intelligent Core, will integrate AI agents to improve network capabilities. It will also fuse computing and networking, helping devices overcome limitations in processing power and energy efficiency.

  • The second phase, Agentic Core, will develop an autonomous network that can optimize itself in real time, making it responsive to various service demands.

Gao highlighted that the 5G-A Intelligent Core will provide three types of AI agents. These agents will not only enhance network intelligence but also create revenue opportunities for network operators. Huawei is also focused on building an intelligent distributed computing framework that enables high-speed data transfer and low-latency services.

The three AI agents introduced are:

  • Calling agents that can understand different inputs—like voice and gestures—to streamline tasks and improve user interaction.
  • Personalized experience agents that optimize network resources for unique user experiences to help operators make money from their services.
  • Digital expert agents that facilitate easy troubleshooting and maintenance through natural language interaction.

To strengthen these technologies, Huawei will introduce the Telco Intelligent Converged Cloud, revamping traditional infrastructure with an AI-driven management system. This setup will ensure that operators have access to solid computing power and effective AI training and inference capabilities.

Gao concluded, stating that the AI Core Network will become essential for telecom infrastructure in today’s AI-driven mobile landscape. Huawei aims to collaborate with telecom providers and industry partners to harness the digital and intelligent advancements on the horizon.

MWC Barcelona 2025 runs from March 3 to March 6. Huawei will present its latest innovations at stand 1H50 in Fira Gran Via Hall 1.

In 2025, expect a fast-tracked deployment of commercial 5G-Advanced as AI helps reshape how carriers operate and enhance their infrastructures. Huawei is committed to working closely with global partners to embrace a smarter world.
