Today in Mumbai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation for a series of projects in Maharashtra, totaling over Rs 11,200 crore. This virtual event comes after his visit to Pune, which was originally scheduled for September 26 but had to be postponed due to heavy rains in the area.
Among the highlights of the inauguration is the completion of the Pune Metro Rail Project (Phase-1). PM Modi will open the underground section that connects the District Court to Swargate, a project that cost around Rs 1,810 crore. Additionally, he will lay the foundation for the Swargate-Katraj extension, which will extend approximately 5.46 kilometers underground and feature three stations: Market Yard, Padmavati, and Katraj. This expansion is expected to cost around Rs 2,955 crore.
Another significant development is the Bidkin Industrial Area, a sprawling 7,855-acre project located about 20 kilometers south of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. With an investment of over Rs 6,400 crore, this project aims to boost the economy of the Marathwada region and will be developed in three phases.
Furthermore, PM Modi will inaugurate the revamped Solapur Airport, enhancing travel connectivity for tourists and business professionals. The airport will now accommodate about 4.1 lakh passengers each year.
Lastly, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for a memorial dedicated to Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule’s First Girls’ School, located in Bhidewada, Pune.
