Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly damaging India’s image during his visits abroad. Speaking at a rally in Haryana, Singh pointed out that past opposition leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani never harmed the country’s reputation internationally. He referenced Gandhi’s comments in the U.S. regarding the challenges faced by the Sikh community in India, questioning the narrative. Singh also highlighted issues in Congress-ruled states, such as protests by government employees in Himachal Pradesh and corruption allegations in Karnataka, urging voters to consider whether they want such governance in Haryana. Additionally, he defended the Agnipath recruitment scheme against Congress’s criticisms.

Rajnath Singh Criticizes Rahul Gandhi Over Foreign Remarks

Chandigarh: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a rally in Haryana. Singh accused Gandhi of attempting to damage India’s reputation during his foreign visits, particularly referencing remarks he made about the Sikh community while in the United States.

Addressing supporters for BJP candidate O P Dhankar, Singh highlighted that past opposition leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani traveled internationally but never harmed India’s image. He defended the country, stating, “Rahul tries to tarnish the image of India in other countries.”

This criticism comes after Gandhi spoke to Indian Americans, questioning whether Sikhs face difficulties wearing their religious symbols, like the turban and kada, in India. Singh, however, insisted there are no such issues for Sikhs in the country and asked the crowd if they believe Gandhi’s claims should be supported.

Further, Singh criticized the Congress party for its failure to fulfill promises in states where they govern, including claims that government employees in Himachal Pradesh are protesting over unpaid salaries. He also condemned the Karnataka government for facing corruption allegations.

The Defence Minister urged voters in Haryana to consider whether they want a government similar to Congress, emphasizing that the BJP has consistently supported development in the state.

As political tensions rise, Singh’s statements reflect the ongoing battle between the BJP and Congress, particularly as the elections approach.
