In Pune, the Giant Metre Radio Telescope (GMRT) will utilize these supercomputers to investigate Fast Radio Bursts and other cosmic phenomena. Meanwhile, the Inter University Accelerator Centre in Delhi will focus on enhancing research in material science and atomic physics, and the S N Bose Centre in Kolkata will drive innovation in physics, cosmology, and earth sciences.

This initiative is crucial as India looks to improve its supercomputing infrastructure, especially with rising demands from academia, research organizations, and startups. The event originally included a broader agenda to dedicate projects worth Rs 22,600 crore across multiple sectors, but this was postponed due to heavy rains in Mumbai and Pune.
