The Congress party has filed a police complaint against BJP leaders for making “open threats” to harm Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha. The complaint, submitted by Congress Treasurer Ajay Maken, cites specific threats made by BJP and allied leaders, including accusations of calling Gandhi a terrorist and comments suggesting assassination. Maken’s report names several individuals, including a Union Minister and leaders from BJP and Shiv Sena. The complaint argues that these threats aim to provoke unrest and reflect a personal vendetta against Gandhi for his advocacy for marginalized communities. Congress has urged the police to take immediate action against those involved in these threats.

On Wednesday, the Congress party filed a police complaint against leaders of the BJP and its allies for making “open threats” to harm Rahul Gandhi, who serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. This complaint was lodged by Congress Treasurer Ajay Maken at the Tughlak Road Police Station in New Delhi, and a copy was also sent to the Chief Election Commissioner of India.

In the complaint, Maken named several BJP leaders, including Ravneet Singh Bittu, who referred to Rahul Gandhi as the “number one terrorist in the country.” Another BJP ally, Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Gaikwad, allegedly placed a bounty of Rs. 11 lakhs on anyone who would “cut the tongue” of Gandhi.

The complaint highlights that these threats are rooted in a personal animosity against Gandhi, particularly due to his vocal criticism of the BJP’s failures to address issues affecting marginalized groups. Maken’s complaint also calls for legal action against those who made these threats, suggesting a coordinated effort to provoke unrest among the public.

This situation underscores the escalating tensions between the two political parties and could have significant implications for the political climate in India as the Congress seeks legal recourse to protect its leaders from such threats.
