Engineer Rashid, a prominent politician in Jammu and Kashmir, returned to his home constituency of Baramulla after being released from Tihar Jail. He expressed gratitude for the support he received during his imprisonment and assured his followers that their voices would not be silenced by leaders like Prime Minister Modi or Amit Shah. Rashid stated he would withdraw his candidates in the upcoming elections if the Opposition INDIA bloc promises to restore Article 370. Despite a smaller turnout at his rally than expected, Rashid remains committed to addressing the Kashmir issue and dismissed any alliance with the BJP. He highlighted the need for self-respect and rights for the people of Kashmir, urging voters to support his cause.

In a recent turn of events, Engineer Abdul Rashid, an MP and chief of the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP), made a powerful return to his home constituency of Baramulla in North Kashmir after spending over five years in Tihar Jail. Upon landing in Srinagar, Rashid showed his love for the land by prostrating and kissing the soil.

As he addressed a crowd of supporters, chants of “Chief minister, chief minister Engineer, Ghar-ghar Engineer” echoed around him. Rashid expressed his determination to uphold the voices of Kashmiris, stating that neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor Union Home Minister Amit Shah could silence them. He emphasized the need for basic human rights, self-respect, and the resolution of outstanding issues in Jammu and Kashmir.

Interestingly, Rashid voiced his willingness to withdraw his candidates if the opposition INDIA bloc commits to restoring Article 370, which would reinstate special status for Jammu and Kashmir. Despite a smaller crowd than expected, Rashid energized his supporters, criticizing major political figures like Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, and rejecting any affiliation with the BJP.

Rashid’s rally, filled with flags and enthusiasm, symbolizes a quest for change in Jammu and Kashmir, as he seeks to engage in meaningful dialogue about the region’s future without alliances that compromise its interests. His message resonated with those longing for a voice in the political landscape, paving the way for a dynamic electoral race ahead.
