Stalin Urges Ford to Reboot Tamil Nadu Dreams: A Reminder of Promises Past in Political Performance!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin recently met with Ford Motor Company representatives in Chicago, urging them to restart production at their former plant near Chennai. During the discussions, Stalin emphasized the potential for reviving a partnership that has lasted over three decades, highlighting the opportunity to manufacture vehicles for a global Market. The meeting included key Ford executives, and Stalin also called for the expansion of Ford’s technology and business center in Tamil Nadu. Additionally, he engaged with ITServe Alliance to attract new investments to the state. So far, Stalin’s U.S. trip has resulted in 16 investment agreements amounting to ₹7,016 crore for Tamil Nadu.



Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin recently met with representatives from Ford Motor Company in Chicago, seeking to revitalize the American car manufacturer’s production at its former plant near Chennai. During the discussion, Stalin emphasized the importance of expanding Ford’s global technology and business solutions center in Tamil Nadu, highlighting the state’s commitment to fostering industry growth.

In a social media update, M.K. Stalin shared his enthusiasm about the meeting, stating, “Had a very engaging discussion with the team from Ford Motors! Explored the feasibility of renewing Ford’s three-decade partnership with Tamil Nadu, to again make in Tamil Nadu for the world!”

Key figures from Ford, including Kay Hart, president of the International Markets Group, and Matt Godlewski, vice president of International Government Affairs, participated in the talks. Ford, which established a presence in Tamil Nadu in the 1990s, had previously announced plans to cease operations at its Chennai facility in June 2022.

The meeting with Ford wasn’t the only highlight of Stalin’s trip. He also engaged with ITServe Alliance, urging fresh investments to support Tamil Nadu’s economic development. The trip has proven fruitful, as it resulted in 16 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aiming for a total investment of ₹7,016 crore in the state.

This proactive approach may not only revive Ford’s operations but also significantly boost Tamil Nadu’s economy, generating new opportunities in the region.
