The company plans to establish a 1.2 GW greenfield solar PV module project on a newly acquired land parcel in Kosi Kotwan, Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, Alpex Solar is exploring opportunities in solar cell manufacturing to enhance its product offerings and profitability. The expansion will be financed through internal funds and loans, with the first phase of 900 MW capacity already completed. The new facility is expected to meet the rising solar energy demand in India and international markets while supporting the company’s growth strategy.

Alpex Solar Expands to Meet Growing Demand for Renewable Energy

In an exciting development, Alpex Solar has announced plans to double its photovoltaic solar module capacity to 2.4 gigawatts (GW) by the fiscal year 2025-26. The company will set up a greenfield project with an initial capacity of 1.2 GW at its newly acquired land in Kosi Kotwan, Uttar Pradesh. This expansion comes in response to the increasing demand for solar energy both in India and on the international stage.

The project will primarily be funded through internal resources and loans. Once operational, Alpex Solar expects to significantly enhance its manufacturing capabilities, allowing it to provide more robust solutions in the renewable energy sector. According to Ashwani Sehgal, Managing Director of Alpex Solar, the company is also considering entering solar cell manufacturing, which could lead to various advantages, including cost reduction and improved branding.

With an ongoing expansion that has successfully added 900 megawatts (MW) thus far, Alpex Solar anticipates reaching a total capacity of 1.2 GW by the third quarter of FY2025. Furthermore, the company is in the process of acquiring an additional land parcel of approximately 17,846.63 square meters in Kosi Kotwan, valued at around Rs 7 crore, for future growth.

This strategic move positions Alpex Solar to not only scale its production but also offer comprehensive, turnkey solar solutions to meet the needs of its clients.
