Jakson Engineers Expands Solar Manufacturing to Meet Growing Demand

Jakson Group’s subsidiary, Jakson Engineers Ltd (JEL), has announced an ambitious investment of around Rs 2,000 crore to expand its solar manufacturing capabilities. This initiative is aimed at setting up a new 2,500 MW solar cell manufacturing facility, which will be developed in two phases. Alongside this, Jakson is also working to increase its existing solar module manufacturing capacity to 2,000 MW.

The first phase of the solar cell plant is expected to be operational within the next 15 months, while the module plant expansion will be completed sooner, within just six months. This move signifies a major step for Jakson Engineers as it aims to respond to the rising demand for solar energy solutions in India and beyond.

Sundeep Gupta, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of the Jakson Group, stated that this expansion reaffirms the company’s longstanding commitment to sustainability and positions Jakson as a significant player in the renewable energy sector. The incorporation of advanced TOPCON technology in their operations is intended to enhance product efficiency and reliability.

Additionally, this expansion is set to create approximately 1,200 jobs in the region, contributing to local economic growth. With India’s current solar cell manufacturing capacity at only 7 GW, Jakson’s efforts play a critical role in reducing dependency on imports, aligning with the national goal of AatmaNirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India).

Looking ahead, Jakson Engineers aims to further increase its capacity to become a 5,000 MW integrated manufacturer of solar wafers, cells, and modules, supporting India’s objective of achieving net zero emissions.

In summary, Jakson’s investment and expansion plans not only bolster its position in the Market but also contribute to a sustainable energy future for India.
