Water Revolution: Bihar’s Chief Minister Unveils Rs 1,347 Crore Supply Project

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has launched a significant drinking water project worth Rs 1,347 crore for the cities of Aurangabad, Dehri, and Sasaram. The initiative will supply water from the Sone river, reducing the cities’ reliance on groundwater, and is expected to be completed within two years. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister also inaugurated several other projects, including a state industrial training institute, tech labs, street light installations, and Anganwadi centers in Dehri, Rohtas district. Additionally, he provided a cheque of Rs 74.17 crore to support 1,864 self-help groups under the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Project, commonly known as JEEVIKA.



Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has recently laid the foundation stone for a significant water supply project worth Rs 1,347 crore. This initiative aims to provide drinking water from the Sone River to the cities of Aurangabad, Dehri, and Sasaram. With the project expected to be completed within two years, it promises to alleviate the region’s reliance on groundwater, enhancing the availability of safe drinking water for the local residents.

During the inauguration, Chief Minister Kumar also announced the development of a state industrial training institute, technical labs, and street lighting projects in Dehri, part of the Rohtas district. Alongside him were Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.

In addition to the water supply scheme, Kumar presented a cheque of Rs 74.17 crore to support 1,864 self-help groups under the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Project, known as JEEVIKA. This is part of a broader effort to improve the social and economic conditions in the state. Last year, the Chief Minister had also launched the ambitious Ganga water supply scheme benefiting Gaya, Rajgir, and Nawada.

With these initiatives, the Bihar government is making significant strides in enhancing infrastructure and providing basic necessities to its citizens.
